It is tough time for Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee in Bengal as a losing ground in Lok Sabha elections is now followed with her leaders joining Bharatiya Janata Party.

Mukul Roy’s son Subhrangshu Roy joined BJP Tuesday along with two legislators and fifty TMC councillors.

The junior Roy was TMC MLA from Bijpur and the party had suspended him for anti-party comments for six years. The other two MLAs who joined BJP are Shilbhadra Dutta and Sunil Singh.

BJP’s Bengal in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya addressed a press conference with Mukul Roy and reminded what Prime Minister Narendra Modi had told ahead of the polls that forty MLA’s of TMC were in touch with him.

He said Modi had warned several MLAs will abandon the party after the Lok Sabha elections result.

In an election campaign in Hooghly district Modi had said, “When the lotus will bloom all over Bengal after May 23, Didi (Banerjee), you will see that your MLAs will also abandon you and run away. Forty of your MLAs are in touch with me even today.”

After joining BJP the junior Roy said, “Now, I will breath freely. Many in the TMC feel suffocated.”

He added that several more TMC leaders will follow his footsteps.
