7 Army veterans join Bharatiya Janata Party

Seven Army veterans joined Bharatiya Janata Party Saturday at the party’s headquarters in the presence of Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. They are Lt Gen JBS Yadav, Lt Gen R N Singh, Lt Gen Nitin Kohli, Lt Gen Sunit Kumar, Lt Gen SK Patyal, Wing commander Navneet Magon and Colonel RK Tripathi.

Sitharaman said, “It is indeed my pleasure to receive very well decorated senior officers of the armed forces to the BJP. They are not only very well decorated, but they have also held very sensitive and important portfolios. They are brave and have an academic background as well.”

She added that the paty is grateful for the Army veterans to join BJP and they are welcomed.

Lt Gen JBS Yadav thanked the party saying BJP president Amit Shah has honored them by making them join the party.

He further added that people have right to have political freedom and it is time for the retired soldiers to work for the country.

Expressing gratitude Lt Gen SK Patyal said nation matters most to them and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as his ministers have taken great measures in their tenure like the government has focused on manufacturing of arms, equipment and ammunition, and two defence corridors have been established too.

He said, “The vision of the Prime Minister to deal with internal and external security challenges has also been extraordinary.”
