AI Could End Human Race: Stephen Hawking

Artificial intelligence (AI) could end human race, said cosmology’s brightest star Stephen Hawking, who died today at the age of 76 in his home in Cambridge, England, leaving three children.

AI Could End Human Race - Stephen Hawking

The eminent astrophysicist was suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s disease) since he was 21, when Hawking was first diagnosed and doctors expected him to live for just two more years.

However, his disease proceeded much slowly and he lived for more than half a century.

In recent years the scientist warned about efforts to develop artificial intelligence, hostile aliens, population burden and threat of climate change.

In 2014 Hawking said, “The development of full artificial interlligence could spell the end of the human race.”

In 2017 he added that artificial intelligence will become a new form of life on earth and this will outperform humans.

The astrophysicist continued saying that the planet will become a sizzling fireball by 2060 due to climate change and humanity will become extinct.

He said, “Humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution, couldn’t compete, and would be superseded.”
