Amazon Launches Kindle Oasis Expensive e-Reader With Leather Cover

Amazon launched today its Kindle Oasis, most expensive e-reader since the 2010′s Kindle DX.

The new device is extra-wide and equipped with extra-thick bezel. It is like a nod to the spine of a paper book to make it comfortable holding in either hand for users.

Amazon has included a leather cover too with the e-reader that is equipped with its own battery too and fuel the device for up to eight weeks on a single charge.

Plugging in to the switch board will charge both the batteries, one of device and the other of leather cover. The device is smart to switch from one battery to another.

Apart from all these, the Kindle Oasis is similar to the Kindle Voyage of 2014 sporting a 6-inch 300 dpi display and equipped with a 4GB storage capable of holding thousands of ebooks.

The Oasis comes with 10 LEDs but still its display is not much brighter compared to the 6 LEDs of Voyage. However, the device is lighter, and even much lighter than most small tablets.

The release date has not yet been disclosed but Amazon has started accepting pre-orders of it. The device is priced tagged $280.

The Kindle Voyage comes at $200 and basic Kindle is being sold for $80.
