Amit Shah confident to win 35 seats from Odisha, WB, Northeast

Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah claimed saffron will win somewhere between 35 to 40 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha, West Bengal and Northeast.

Talking to a television news channel he added that in West Bengal alone BJP is to grab more than 23 seats out of 42 in the upcoming LS elections. In 2014 the party was limited to just two seats in the state.

Shah further said that from Northeast the party is confident to win about 20 or 21 seats. The region comprises of Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Tripura, Manipur, Sikkim and Nagaland. There are a total of 25 seats in Northeast and in 2014 the party managed winning eight seats.

For Odisha he said BJP was on its way to performing well and forming next government. The state will have Assembly elections simultaneously.

The BJP chief was asked whether Citizenship (Amendment) Bill is to affect the party’s prospect in Northeast as it had earlier led to unrest in the region.
