Election Commission directed  the UP Police to file a FIR  against Azam khan and thus following the directions ,  the UP police on Saturday lodged an FIR against UP cabinet minister and senior Samajwadi party leader Azam Khan for his ‘hate speech’ at the Massorie police station in Ghaziabad.

Accordind to FIR, on April 7, between 11.30am and 12.45pm a rally was organized by Samajwadi party. The rally was attended by UP cabinet minister Azam Khan and he delivered a speech containing obnoxious words. This speech did not only amount to the violation of model code of conduct but also hurt the sentiments of all communities and religions .
The FIR has been lodged under sections 153A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language etc. and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony), 153B (Imputations, assertions prejudicial to national-integration), 295A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religion feelings or any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 505 (2) ()and 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public interest) of IPC.

Apart from that, Khan has also been booked under section 12 of the Representation of People Act 1950 for promoting or attempting to promote on grounds of religion, race, caste, community or language, feelings of enmity or hatred, between different classes of the citizens of India.
