Bharatiya Janata Party didn’t promise to give everyone Rs 15 lakh in their bank accounts in the run up to the previous Lok Sabha elections, said former union minister Kalraj Mishra at a press conference on Saturday on the 39th foundation of the party in Chandigarh.

Mishra added the opposition parties are spreading the disinformation and misleading people.

He asserted Prime Minister Narendra Modi never made such promise by saying, “I want to clarify that we never made any Rs. 15 lakh promise. In a public address (ahead of 2014 polls), our leader said that if black money stashed abroad comes back, an estimated Rs. 15 lakh can be given per family. But this promise was never made in our party’s manifesto.”

Attacking the new minimum income guarantee scheme (Nyay) of Congress the senior BJP leader asked the party why poor people were not facilitated with such scheme when it was in power for ten continuous years prior to 2014 general elections.

Mishra said Congress leaders have the habit of speaking lies. He also dubbed the manifesto of Congress as pack of lies.

About Modi’s ‘Congress Mukt Bharat’ slogan the minister said it meant to rid India of corruption and policies of Congress and not to rid the nation of the party.

Mishra slammed PDP president Mehbooba Mufti too for her comment that relationship of India with Jammu and Kashmir will end if Article 35 is changed.
