BJP’s fate in Northeast doubtful?

Northeast sends 25 leaders to Parliament and in 2014 ten of those were from Bharatiya Janata Party. Congressed managed grabbing eight seats. By 2018-end the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) led by BJP made the region Congress mukt, but lately the development seems confusing and claims of BJP President Amit Shah to bag 21 seats is a doubt.

The biggest failure for the BJP now seems converting NEDA into an electoral alliance from political one.

One of the reasons for failure could be denial of ticket to Assam’s finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who though had been symbol of assertive BJP.

There is couple of issues in northeast to decide fate of political parties and those include infrastructure, identity and future of youth. NDA has earlier inaugurated two key bridges to help the region get logistical help and this initiative will be highlighted in the election campaign.

Many political allies in the region is also believing a Hindutva credo may not have a place in the sun for Christians.

Moreover, the region has diverse linguistic, religious and cultural identities issues. In Arunachal Pradesh six tribes and Gorkhas have no permanent resident status even though they are not Muslim migrants or Hindu refugees.
