Bollywood Actor Jeetendra Alleged Sexually Assaulted Cousin In 1971

A woman has claimed Bollywood star Jeetendra had sexually assaulted her about five decades ago when she was in her teens. A two-page complaint has been registered with the director general of police in Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.

The name of Jeetendra in the complaint is mentioned as Ravi Kapoor and the woman is seeking registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against the actor for a “sexual assault” case.

It is learned Jeetendra was then 28 years old and the woman, said to be his cousin, was 18.

The actor’s advocate Rizwan Siddiquee claimed the complaint is baseless adding, “Foremost my client categorically denies any such incident. Even otherwise such baseless, ridiculous and fabricated claims cannot be entertained by any court or police after a span of almost 50 years.”

The assault is claimed to have taken place in January 1971 when Jeetendra had arranged with the father of the woman, without her awareness, to have him join on the sets of a movie being filmed.

The deceased added in her complaint, “Respondent (Kapoor) brought me to his hotel room which contained two separate beds… Tired from the journey I went to sleep in the far bed… smelled strongly of alcohol… we slept silently in the room that night.”

The complaint has been made online and will be sent to an officer to decide whether to lodge an FIR.
