BREAKING: Train Derails In Indian State Andhra Pradesh; 2 Dozen Dead

About two dozen people have been killed and ton others injured in India after derail of seven coaches of Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh state at around 11 p.m. local time on Saturday.

Chief PRO of East Coast Railway JP Mishra said, the engine as well as luggage van, two general coaches, two sleeper coaches, one AC three tier coach and one AC two tier coach of 18448 Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Express derailed near Kuneru station.

Mishra confirmed 23 people were killed.

The wounded have been hospitalized at Parbatipuram and Rayagada.

Railway ministry tweeted, “A total 4 accident relief vans rushed from different places. Priority is treatment, shifting of injured passengers to nearest hospital. @sureshpprabhu personally monitoring situation, directed senior officials to reach site immediately, ensure prompt rescue and relief ops.”
