CBI Convicts Lalu Yadav In Fodder Scam

War of words has emerged fierce between the ruling government and opposition parties after the CBI special court today convicted Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav in the fodder scam case.

CBI Convicts Lalu Yadav In Fodder Scam

The court convicted Lalu in the case pertaining to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 89.27 lakh from the Deoghar Treasury during the period of 1991 and 1994.

The Congress party is alleging CBI to be the pet performing parrot of the government while ruling party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called the alliance between Lalu’s RJD and Congress as alliance of corruption, connivance and cheating Indian citizens.

Congress leader Manish Tewari however clarified criminal cases are different from political alliances and these are two separate matters.

Questioning the credibility of CBI the leader alleged BJP is refusing to investigate in the Srijan scam case.

Tewari added, “So as far as CBI and ED are concerned, if you think that JDU is in coalition with BJP, and there will be investigation against their ministers, this is like flying fictional kites.”

Deputy chief minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi said today’s verdict has not been given by BJP, but by a judicial body.

He added the RJD leader was first convicted during the UPA regime and so how BJP can influence the judicial process.

Lalu was shocked after the conviction and before being taken to custody his last words were, “Look, they set doctor sahib (Dr Mishra) free and punished me. It is strange.”
