Complete List of 2015 Cricket World Cup Squads
The 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup is to be held in Australia and New Zealand from the 14th of February to 29th March 2015. All the participating 14 teams have announced their final 15 member world cup squad. The 14 teams have been split into two groups and each group comprises of 7 teams. Scotland were the first team to make official their 15 member final squad for the forthcoming World Cup and the Australian and West Indies teams were the last ones to announce their 15 member squad.
The following are the details of the 15 member squad of every participating nation in the 2015 World Cup.
Australia has been the most consistent team of the World Cups and has won the cup on three previous occasions. This team under Captain Michel Clarke has the potential to go to the semifinals, but lacks the firepower to reach the finals.
The squad: Michel Clarke (captain), George Bailey (vice captain), Shane Watson, David Warner, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Johnson, Aaron Finch, James Faulkner, Brad Haddin, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh, Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Pat Cummins and Xavier Doherty.
New Zealand is a well oiled one day unit and has reached two semifinals in the last two World Cups. The team lacks the killer punch and would not make it beyond the second quarterfinal round.
The squad: Brendon McCullum (Capt), Ross Taylor, Daniel Vettori, Kyle Mills, Kane Williamson, Luke Ronchi, Nathan Mc Cullum, Corey Anderson, Tom Latham, Martin Guptill, Adam Milne, Grant Elliott, Mitchell McClenaghan, Tim Southee and Trent Boult.
Sri Lankan side is the runners up of the previous World Cup and have a very good ODI unit. They are sure to make it to the semifinals of the 2015 World Cup, but cannot proceed beyond that.
The squad: Angelo Mathews (captain), Kumar Sangakkara, Tilakratne Dilshan, Mahela Jayawardene, Lasith Malinga, Nuwan Kulasekhara, Rangana Herath, Dhammika Prasad, Sachithra Senanayake, Suranga Lakmal, Dimuth Karunaratne, Thisara Perera, Jeevan Mendis,Lahiru Thirimanne and Dinesh Chandimal.
The English team is a good team that will make it to the quarter finals of the 2015 World Cup. But, they do not have a powerful team to take them into the semis.
England squad: Eoin Morgan (captain), Joe Root, Moeen Ali, Chris Jordan, Stuart Broad, James Taylor, Jos Butler, James Tredwell, James Anderson, Alex Hales, Gary Balance, Ravi Bopara, Ian Bell, Chris Woakes and Steven Finn.
Scotland has had previous experience playing in the World Cup, but do not have in them to overpower other cricketing giants in their group to qualify for the quarterfinals.
Scotland team: Preston Mommsen (capt), Josh Davey, Kyle Coetzer (vice-capt), Matthew Cross, Alasdair Evans, Richie Berrington, Freddie Coleman, Calum MacLeod, Hamish Gardiner, Majid Haq,Safyaan Sharif, Robert Taylor, Iain Wardlaw, Michael Leask and Matt Machan.
They do not have the potential to pose a threat to any team in their group in this 2015 World Cup.
The squad: Mohammad Nabi (capt), Najibullah Zadran, Nasir Jamal, Afsar Zazai (wk), Aftab Alam, Javed Ahmadi, Mirwais Ashraf, Asghar Stanikzai, Dawlat Zadran, Shapoor Zadran, Usman Ghani, Samiullah Shinwari, Hamid Hassan, Nawroz Mangal and Gulbadin Naib.
Bangladesh team is not in the best form now, but it has every chance of progressing to the quarterfinals of the 2015 World Cup as the 4th best team from the group if it registers win against Scotland and Afghanistan and beats one of the top teams with a big margin.
The team: Mashrafe Mortaza (capt), Tamin Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, Taijul Islam, Rubel Hossain, Arafat Sunny, Anamul Haque, Al Amin Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Sabbir Rahman, Mahmudullah, Nasir Hossain, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim and Soumya Sarkar.
The defending champions India have a very good one day unit. The selectors have included a lot of fresh and young players in this year’s World Cup squad and they might find the going tough in the crunch matches. India would be one of the semifinalists of the 2015 World Cup.
The Indian squad: M S Dhoni (captain), Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Ajyinka Rahane, Stuart Binny, Axar Patel, Ambati Rayadu, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Shami, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav.
Pakistan has got the experience of winning a World Cup, but the team does not have the consistent performance to prove to be title holders. They might turn out to be the surprise finalists of the 2015 World Cup.
The squad: Misbal ul Haq (capt), Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Irfan, Junaid Khan, Umar Akmal, Shoaib Maqsood, Yasir Shah, Ehsan Adil, Mohammad Hafeez, Ahmed Shahzad, Younis Khan, Shahid Afridi, Harris Sohail, Sohail Khan and Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Zimbabwe are not at their best form right now and there is no way they are going to upset any big teams in their pool. They might even suffer defeat at the hands of Ireland.
Their squad: Elton Chigumbura (capt), Brendan Taylor (wk), Prosper Utseya, Sikandar Raza, Regis Chakabva, Craig Ervine, Tafadzwa Kamungozi, Stuart Matsikenyeri, Solomon Mire, Sean Williams, Hamilton Masakadza, Tendai Chatara, Chamu Chibhabha, Tinashe Panyangara and Tawanda Mupariwa.
South Africa is a very good ODI side and is a strong squad that will easily enter into the semi finals. They will once again choke in the semifinals.
SA Team: AB De Villiers (capt), Hashim Amla, Dale Steyn, Vermon Philander, Rilee Rossouw, Quinton De Kock, Kyle Abbot, JP Duminy, Faf Du PLessis, David Miller, Imran Tahir, Wayne Parnell, Morne Morkel, Farhaan Behardien and Aaron Phangiso.
The WI selectors have taken a brave decision to leave out ODI captain Dwayne Bravo and swashbuckler Keiron Pollard out of the WI world cup squad. The WI team will be the surprise finalists of the World Cup and would also win the cup.
The Squad: Jason Holder (captain), Marlon Samuels, Chris Gayle, Dinesh Ramdin, Darren Bravo, Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Smith, Darren Sammy, Andre Russell, Jonathan Carter, Kemar Roach, Sheldon Cottrell, Jerome Taylor, Sunil Narine and Suliemann Benn.
Ireland was the dark horse of previousWorld Cup tournaments before and has beaten one or two fancied teams every time they played in World Cups. This World Cup they would go out of the tournament after the pool matches.
Squad: William Porterfield (Capt), Alex Cussack, Peter Chase, Andrew Balbirnie, Gary Wilson, Craig Young, Stuart Thompson, Niall O’Brien, Kevin O’Brien, John Mooney, Paul Stirling, Tim Murtagh, Andrew McBrine, Ed Joyce and George Dockrell.
UAE is entering the world Cup for the very first time and is put in a very tough pool. It will not be able to win any of its matches in the pool stages.
The squad: Mohammed Tauqir (capt), Rohan Mustafa, Manjula Guruge, Kamran Shahzad, Krishna Karate, Khurram Khan, Shaiman Anwar, Amjad Ali, Andri Berenger, Fahad Al Hashmi, Swapnil Patil, Saqlain Haider, Nasir Aziz, Rohan Mustafa and Amjad Javed.
West Indies and Pakistan meet in the final and the West Indies will lift the 2015 World Cup.
