Cricket Tournament held at New Gurgaon

Keeping the spirit of cricket season alive,a Cricket Tournament was jointly organized by DLF and Vatika on 5th, 6th and 13th March’16 in New Gurgaon. The tournament was conducted in DLF Gardencity area.The Cricket Tournament kicked off with players taking an oath to maintain true spirit of the game with fair play during the matches. The tournament was declared open with the release of colorful balloons.

Six teams- 86 Eagles, 90 Bulls, 91Rhinos, 21 Warriors, Indi Titans and Lifestyle Tuskers participated in this three-day tournament.The teams participated with immense enthusiasm, keeping the crowd completely captivated. Residents also came in big numbers to cheer their favourite teams.

The Tournament was concludedon 13thMarch’16 with ‘86 Eagles’ team being declared as the winner. The closing ceremony was marked by a dance performance followed by prize distribution. A scrumptious lunch was also laid-out for the players as well the supportive crowd.Various recreational activities like musical chairs, games for children, etc. had also been arrangedto make the event appealing for all age groups.

Commander Naveen Bakshi (Retd.), President (Operations), Vatika said, ‘We are happy that the Cricket Tournament was a huge success. Since cricket is a popular sport, the tournament saw enthusiastic participation by everyone. In fact, it was very heartening to see that the teams had started early morning practice sessions to give their best in the matches’.Hefurther added, ‘The Cricket Tournamentallowed an ideal opportunity to the residents of New Gurgaon to bolster team spirit and camaraderie. Moving forward, we plan to organize more cultural and sports events in the area’.

Commenting on the Cricket Tournament, Col.Tejbir Singh, General Manager (Township), DLF said, ‘It has always been our endeavour to encourage a healthy environment at our upcoming township DLF Gardencity. The Cricket Tournament was an initiative to promote physical activity to spur the residents out of their hectic schedule. Sports events like these not only provide a platform for team-work but also galvanize sense of bonhomie amongst residents’.

Col. Tejbir Singh further added, ‘We are extremely glad that the tournament has received an overwhelming response and we shall organize similar activities in future. We are sanguine that such activities will provide a novel living experience to the residents of New Gurgaon and will further promote habitation in the area’.
