DLF extends support for agonized farmers
In a move to extend support for the distressed farmers, DLF, one of the largest commercial real estate developers in India pledged Rs. 1 crore each to the Prime Minister’s and Chief Minister’s relief funds, respectively as financial assistance, handing over the cheque to Shri Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister of Haryana, at a press meet at the auditorium of the Power Grid Corporation of India on Wednesday. Union Power Minister, Piyush Goyal and Central Minister and Gurgaon MP, Rao Inderjit Singh were among others who attended the meet, which witnessed a presentation on the model smart grid for Gurgaon.
Due to unseasonal rains and crop loss, farmers especially in the North and Central India have been badly hit, with an estimated crop damage to over 13 lakh acres in Haryana and lowered self-confidence. A fund of 2 crores was donated by DLF to fulfil its sole purpose of providing relief to the distressed farmers.
Shri. Manohar Lal Khattar said at the meet that the Government of Haryana is pro-farmer and was giving maximum compensation to the affected farmers in the current scenario of hopelessness where farmers are ending their lives. He also appreciated DLF for its contribution towards the support of farmers and requested to continue its services to the people of Gurgaon and reach out to the whole of Haryana.
DLF is 70 years old organization, which has entered its 4th generation with Rajiv Singh, DLF’s Vice Chairman. Earlier in April Gurgaon police had invited corporates in a meeting to showcase their initiatives and introduce the concept of community policing 2.0, responding to which DLF had donated a sum of Rs.1 crore to the Shri Navdeep Singh Virk, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Gurgaon, Haryana for public safety, provide training to cops and improvement of police infrastructure like PCR vans, barricades etc. DLF has been an integral part of Gurgaon’s development.
Rajiv Singh, said, “Our farmers have gone in a state of despair and it is our responsibility to support them during this harsh time and get them out of this state of despair. The whole of India should join hands to be with them throughout this time.”
