DLF Foundation organises Inter School Sports Meet in Nawada-Fatehpur, Gurgaon

More than 500 children of 5 different government schools of Gurgaon participated in the Inter School Sports Meet at Nawada Fatehpur Village, Gurgaon. The sports meet was organized by DLF Foundation in collaboration with Plan India. Children of primary and secondary government schools of Shikhopur, Kankrola, and Hayatpur village also participated in the sports meet.Principals of the different schools along with the teachers and community members participated in the sports meet. Ms. Premlata, District Elementary Education Officer and Mr. Mukesh Yadav, Deputy District Elementary Education Officer were also present at the sports meet and extended their full support and cooperation for the meet.


The inter school sports meet had 14 different and innovative sports activities that include “Balloon bursting race ” and peanut breaking race for grade 3rd and 4th reverse race for 6th grade inter-school relay race. The event also had musical chair competition for the teachers and community members. The meet was organized to establish a culture of sports among the children and focused on the holistic development of children and integration of education and sports in primary and secondary level. To ensure full safety and security of the children Gurgaon district Red Cross society was roped in to provide the first aid facility for the event.

“This sports meet was the first of its kind organized in our school. I and my friends participated in the different activities and thoroughly enjoyed the meet. I wish that such events are regularly organized at our school” said Pinky Verma, student of Government Secondary School, Nawada-Fatehpur Village.

Ritesh Sinha, Director, Village Cluster Development Program, DLF Foundation said “We aim to establish a culture of sports amongst these children. Apart from studies, sports is an integral part for the holistic development of a child. I thank all the children, teachers, government officials and the people of Nawada-Fatehpur for their continuous support for making this sports meet a grand success. ”

The sports meet concluded with the prize distribution ceremony to the winners of different categories. This sports meet was organized under DLF Foundation’s “Model School Program”. This program has been implemented in four blocks of Gurgaon, Harayana that include Shikhopur , Kankrola, Nawada-Fatehpur and Hayatpur. DLF Foundation entails holistic development of govt. high schools under this program. This includes introduction of fear-free learning environment, fun based learning systems, use of advanced technology to introduce fun based learning, infrastructural improvement, environment protection, training of teachers to bring up their skills for improved classroom teaching etc.
