Facebook is lately learned working on a stand-alone camera app to help users creating and sharing more videos and photos.

A source said the new app is dubbed as “friend-sharing” and it opens to a camera as the Snapchat app does.

A prototype of it also allows recording of video to begin live streaming.

People familiar with the matter said the project is still in the early stages.

A Facebook spokeswoman didn’t mention about the new project but said the overall level of sharing was strong on the platform.

A source added the app is aimed to motivate its 1.6 billion users to create videos and photos.

Facebook had earlier in June 2014 had launched Slingshot but it disappeared after 24 hours. The app was similar to Snapchat that allows users trading videos and photos.

The social giant had also launched a photo-editing and -sharing app named Camera.

However, both the apps didn’t help in getting more attractions of users.

It is being said the new app that is being developed would have slightly different features and to include live-streaming mode too.
