Famous Parisian Department Store Printemps Launches E-Commerce Platform With Focus on Inclusivity

Parisina, the famous luxury Parisian department store has announced the launch of its e-commerce site on March 12, 2020. The greater focus of  the site is on inclusivity and the site would concentrate on including gender, size, and more.

According to the WWD, it took two year to develop the site and it will offer a wide range of gender neutral clothing choices. The clothing options  will be displayed on a woman and a man side by side. The site will also display services and clothes for increased size range and disabled clients.

The main focus of the site is size inclusivity, and regarding inclusivity Karen Vernet the e-commerce director of the company said “For us thinness is not necessarily a symbol of beauty, and beauty is not necessarily symbolized by thinness – it’s an equation that has dominated the realm of luxury for years and years. Today things are starting to change, and I think we need to act – Printemps has responsibility in this area, we don’t want beauty to be associated solely with one specific body type.”

The best part about the site is that it is the first e-commerce site to serve the clients with colour blindness, Parkinson’s, and dyslexia. The site explains “For clients indicating they have Parkinsn’s disease, extra space is added between sections to make it easier to click on something, while it changes colour for people who are colour blind.”

The site will include products of the best brands of the world including Gucci, Prada, Universal Standard, and Y/Project. At the present time the site is available only in France and there are plans to expand the site in the US. However there is no surety regarding the availability of the site for Canandian shoppers.
