All India Muslim Personal Law Board Vice-President Maulana Kalbe Sadik has delivered a controversial remark on Babri Masjid case unfavoring his Muslim community for the Hindus at a seminar in Mumbai.

The popular and highly respectable Shia cleric said the disputed land should be handed over to Hindus even if Supreme Court’s final judgement comes in their favor.

Speaking at the World Peace and Harmony conclave at NSCL the Maulana said, “I think leaving land of mosque for temple will connect crores of hearts. So I wish that land should be handed over to the Hindus.”

Sadiq added if the final verdict of the apex court unfavors the Muslims, it would be better if the land is happily given to the Hindus.

Earlier this month the Uttar Pradesh’s Shia Central Waqf Board filed an affidavit before the Supreme Court stating a mosque can be built near the place where Lord Ram was born.

It is not to forget the Sunni Central Waqf Board filed a lawsuit in 1961 with demand to possess the entire disputed land and also the removal of idols from the mosque premises.

Hindus claim Lord Ram was born at the disputed site in 1528-29 CE. When Mughal emperor Babur came to India, he built a mosque there and named it as Babri Masjid.

On 6 December 1992 the Hindu Karsevaks demolished the mosque and it resulted with a massive riot between Hindu and Muslim that took lives of more than 2000 people.

The Babri Masjid is located in Ayodhya.
