Google Wrapping Up Picasa For Photos

The days of dated Picasa is now numbered. Google has taken the decision of shutting it for Google Photos.

This may not be anything to worry for users as all the photos and videos will be moved to Google Photos automatically.

This is not something surprising as when the newer Google Photos was launched last year, it was hinted Picasa may come to an end.

Google acquired Picasa in 2004 and kept it dormant for years. Not much updates were done for the application apart from few tweaks and fixing of bugs in one decade. Meanwhile, the Google Photos became highly successful. In the journey from May to October the service crossed 100 million monthly users milestone.

Google Wrapping Up Picasa For Photos

In a blog post Google said the easiest way to access, modify and share Picasa Web Album is by logging into Google Photos.

The search engine giant has not disclosed anything further even whether Picasa will remain in the current format in future or will be completely wrapped up. Let’s wait for some days or a month for more update. Until then, do share your views whether the decision is right on part of the company with us and fellow readers in the below given comment box.
