The juvenile will step into his 16th birthday on March 12. He is the eldest among the three children and is a class ninth student. His father is a painter.

It looks like terror groups have again started using such teenaged boys in creating terror among the people.

Interrogating the boy investigators learned the Hizbul Mujahideen first asked overground worker to throw the grenade at a crowded place in Jammu, but he developed cold feet and thereafter the boy was selected. He was codenamed chotu.

The boy carried out his mission on March 7 at around 11:50 am. The blast killed 2 and injured 32 others. This was the third grenade attack on Jammu bus stand. The last blast was in May 2018.

On February 14 Jaish-e-Mohammed terror outfit launched a suicide vehicle attack on CRPF convoy that killed 40 jawans. The attack deteriorated relations between India and Pakistan. Both the countries were on brink of war.

The teenager will be sent to a juvenile home and his trial under stringent anti-terror law provisions would start soon in the state.

Terror groups had been hiring such teenagers in early 2000 but the practice ended by 2009 following efforts of police in counselling parents in the region.
