If Article 35A, 370 are scrapped, Kashmiris will resist to maximum: Geelani

Amid tensed situation in the Kashmir Valley the J&K-based separatist Syed Ali Geelani has cautioned Center Kashmiris will resist to maximum if any change is made in the special status of the state.

Following an important meeting Sunday of the Hurriyat Conference’s executive at the Hyderpora Srinagar the leader said confusing and chaotic situation in the Valley has panicked people in the state.

Geelani chaired the meeting. In a released statement he added, “Increasing the forces’ deployment, rumours of tampering with special provisions of state, suspension of (Amarnath) Yatra, evacuating tourists, students and yatris has created a war-like situation.”

He appealed to the Kashmiris, mostly the youths, to get prepared for a long and tough struggle in the Valley.

Geelani also urged the people in Kashmir not to panic with the deployment of 35,000 additional situations and curtailing the Amarnath Yatra by Delhi.

It is being suspected by the local political parties the measures of Modi government could be for the preparation of ground to scrap Articles 35A and 370.

Geelani also slammed allegations of mainstream politicians that the separatist leaders are the culprits of hollowing the special provisions of Kashmir.

Separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq tweeted, “Kashmiri people have always faced any kind of situation bravely. And this time also, with the help of Almighty, we will fight. Stop worrying, keep your spirits high and show unity.”
