Illegal immigrants to be thrown out of India: Amit Shah

Union minister Amit Shah hinted to be weeding out illegal immigrants from the country. He is on a two-day visit to the northeastern states and said, “All states are worried about the NRC… Assam thinks NRC was wrong.”

In the final list of NRC around 19 lakh people have been left out and referring to it Amit Shah added centre will throw every single illegal immigrant out of India.

The senior BJP leader further continued that many think people have been left out of the NRC list and he assured the illegal immigrants cannot settle down in other states by leaving Assam.

Lately Meghalaya has expressed concern that illegal migrants are settling in the state after leaving Assam.

Amit Shah said the illegal immigrants cannot settle down in any states of India and need to be thrown out.

Addressing to the North Eastern Council meeting in Guwahati he said, “I want to clearly say that not a single illegal migrant will be allowed to stay in the country by the Government of India. That is our commitment.”

Talking about the Article 371 he said the government has no plan to abrogate it.

He added that Article 370 has no relation with the Article 371 and so it will not infringe the tribal laws.

Couple of states like Nagaland also enjoys special status under Article 371. Following the stripping of the article from Jammu and Kashmir such states are now concerned more.
