Indian Offspinner Ashwin Crowned ICC Cricketer Of The Year, Test Cricketer Of The Year
Indian offspinner Ravichandran Ashwin has topped the list of two categories of International Cricket Council (ICC) He has been announced as the Cricketer of the Year and ICC Test Cricketer of the Year 2016.
In the history of eight decades of Indian cricket team R Ashwin is the third cricketer to win the Sir Garfield Sobers trophy after Sachin Tendulkar in 2010 and Rahul Dravid in 2004.
In 2016 R Ashwin managed to take 48 wickets in 8 Tests. The average is stunning, 15.39. His batting side too proved magic this year with 336 runs, averaging 42.
Currently the 30-year-old is the top ICC Test bowlers followed by Ravindra Jadeja.
Announcing on Thursday the ICC also crowned Pakistani skipper Misbah-ul-Haq with ICC Spirit of Cricket Award, Marais Erasmus with ICC Umpire of the Year 2016 and Quinton de Kock as ODI Cricketer of the Year.
Carlos Brathwaite has been named as the ICC T20I Performance of the Year, Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman has been chosen as the ICC Emerging Cricketer of the Year 2016 and Afghanistan’s Mohammad Shahzad has been crowned with ICC Associate/Affiliate Cricketer of the Year title.
