INX Media case: Delhi court sends P Chidambaram to judicial custody

Former finance minister P Chidambaram has again been sent to judicial custody in the INX Media money laundering case. A plea of Enforcement Directorate was rejected by Delhi court special judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar for his one day custodial interrogation.

CBI arrested the senior Congress leader on August 21. An FIR alleging irregularities in a Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance during his tenure favoring the INX Media group was registered on May 15, 2017.

Meanwhile, the court has also directed the Tihar jail authorities to provide P Chidambaram with security, a separate cell, western toilet and medicines.

Considering the deteriorated health conditions of Chidambaram the court has now allowed him to have home-cooked food.

Chidambaram’s main bail request is due to be heard on November 4.

Earlier, Supreme Court rejected argument of CBI that the Congress leader is a flight risk and also can influence the witnesses.
