ITM University Continues its Pledge to Remain Ragging Free

With the new academic session about to begin from 27 July 2015 and admissions going on in full swing, ITM University, Gurgaon has, as in the past, gone in for renewing its pledge to keep the campus ragging free.  ITM University’s Anti-Ragging Committee, headed by the Officiating Vice-Chancellor Brig SK Sharma (Retd) met recently to reiterate its resolve to ensure that the campus remains free of ragging.


Brig SK Sharma (Retd), said, “Our University has had an unblemished record of zero percent tolerance for ragging. There has not been a single incident of ragging in the University since its inception. The anti-ragging squads work effectively in order to keep the campus ragging-free and that no kind of bullying takes place. ”


The Committee constitutes of the Registrar and various faculty members along with representatives of University Hostel administration, police, NGO, media, parents and students as members. The members were made aware of the various orders from the UGC, Government of Haryana and the Hon’ble Supreme Court on the subject of ragging.  They were all informed that ragging is a cognizable offence and an FIR has to be filed for each incident of ragging.


The University has also formed various Anti Ragging Squads and Quick Reaction Teams (QRT), comprising of faculty members, security staff and incorporated senior students to ensure that preventive measures are taken and no incident of ragging is permitted to take place. Different anti-ragging squads have been constituted to take care of ragging in various areas of the campus and are active to take action against the violators.


All members of various anti-ragging squads were informed that any incident of ragging coming to their notice should be immediately reported so that suitable action can be taken.The parents were appreciative of the fact that the University is handling the matter with seriousness.


Later all members of the Anti-Ragging Squads were briefed by the Registrar on the modalities of operation and the importance of remaining vigilant and taking preventive action to ensure that no incident of ragging takes place.
