Girl’s education is important and this is highlighted further with the announcement of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for free studies in government institutions up to post-graduation.

Presenting the 13th State Budget for 2018-19 the CM said state government would be spending Rs. 95 crore for free education of girl student who is taking admission in government pre-university, degree and post-graduation courses.

The new education policy is said to be benefiting 3.7 lakh girl students in Karnataka. About a year ago the government announced free education for girls from class 1 till graduation.

The minister added on Friday, “A total of Rs. 4,514 crore is being provided for higher education in 2018-19.”

In the period of next one year one hundred more ‘Karnataka Public Schools’ will be opened across Karnataka at a total expenditure of Rs. 5 crore.

The state government has earmarked Rs. 22,350 crore in the new budget for primary and secondary education and the spending includes installation of CCTV cameras for better security of the students in the school premises.

Siddaramaiah said, “Rs. 5 crore has been allocated to provide digital library facility through cloud computing to around 10 lakh students studying in government high schools and pre-university colleges.”

He further mentioned that free bus passes will be made available for the students to travel from schools and colleges and the service to benefit about 19.6 lakh students.
