LJP to contest alone in Jharkhand assembly polls

Lok Janshakti Party president Chirag Paswan said Tuesday his party will be contesting for fifty assembly seats in Jharkhand on its own.

The state is scheduled for assembly elections between November 30 and December 20.

Paswan said, “The state unit of the party had to take a decision on fighting the Jharkhand assembly polls. It has decided that the Lok Janshakti Party will contest 50 seats on its own.”

Earlier it was being worked out that LJP would go for an alliance with BJP for the Jharkhand assembly election, but later the saffron believed regional party has not much to offer electorally there. The two parties are however allies in Bihar.

Similarly, another BJP ally in Bihar, the Janata Dal (United) has opted to fight on its own in Jharkhand.

The saffron meanwhile received a setback from its state ally AJSU that unilaterally announced several candidates and some also included against senior BJP party leaders.

BJP will soon start its state campaign focusing to remain in power and its leaders are working to defuse the crisis.
