Metro police arrest 4 for stealing cable worth more than 12 lacs
The Metro Police recently arrested four thieves for stealing 20 metres of cable (live current) from metro track in front of Buddha Garden, Delhi. With this, the police have worked out 5 cases of theft and recovered cable worth Rs. 12, 40,000.
The four accused namely Raj, 27 Yusuf, 40, Rohit, 19 and Rahees, 25 are residents of Rang Puri Pahadi area of Mahipalpur. According to IGI Metro Police, Rahees, the receiver of stolen property used to purchase cable as well as copper from Raj and his associates. Police also retrieved copper cable from Rahees who runs a Kabadi shop.
Raj and his associates were trying to cut the cable with a blade when the metro guards in patrolling duty saw them and observed something has been going wrong. They informed the metro police nearby and SHO, IGI Metro immediately swung into action and sent his team to the spot. They caught the accused as well as recovered the 20 metre cable costing Rs. 1 lac and 10 metres copper cable that they were trying to steal.
Jitendramani Tripathi, Deputy Commissioner of Metro Police said that they are deeply committed for metro security and are working round the clock to ensure the safety and security of people as well as property. He also applauded SHO, IGI Metro for successfully working out 5 theft cases.
