Mizoram believes BJP will bring development in state

People in Mizoram are hopeful Bharatiya Janata Party will be like a messiah of development in the state as until now they have been betrayed by the Congress.

BJP’s candidate Nirupam Chakma, who was earlier five-time Congress legislator, said saffron is their last hope. He switched to BJP in 2015.

Chakma added the Congress and Mizo National Front (MNF) has been given enough opportunities in the state but they have disappointed the people.

He further said, “It won’t be wrong to say the BJP is the last ray of hope for the people of Mizoram. The Congress has failed them and they will not elect a Congress candidate for the Lok Sabha polls.”

He said people wants to give an opportunity to the saffron party hoping development could be on the card after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and in future Mizoram can be at par with states like Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Talking to the PTI the BJP candidate added, “People’s opinion about the BJP is changing for good in Mizoram and this time they want to elect a BJP candidate. I can confidently say they won’t be disappointed.”

Chakma has an experience of 22 years in state politics and believe people will support him in the elections.

The state, which was part of Assam until 1972, will go into polls on April 11.
