Modi to address first rally in Chattisgarh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing his first rally in Chattisgarh after the announcement of Lok Sabha election dates on Saturday. The state will go into polls in three phases on April 11, 18 and 23 for eleven seats.

Modi will be addressing a rally in Hathaud village near Balod district headquarters. He will be arriving at around 2 pm from Sonepur town in Odisha.

Bharatiya Janata Party state spokesperson said people from four LS constituencies will be attending the rally and the constituencies are Kanker (ST), Durg, Mahasamund and Rajnandgaon.

The Kanker Lok Sabha constituency comes under Balod district and to go into polls in the second phase along with Rajnandgaon and Mahasamund.

BJP candidates of the four constituencies are Mohan Mandavi (Kanker), Chunnilal Sahu (Mahasamund), Santosh Pandey (Rajnandgaon) and Vijay Baghel (Durg).

Votes for only one seat will be held in first phase – Naxal-affected Bastar (ST). In third phase Surguja (ST), Raigarh (ST), Janjgir-Champa (SC), Raipur, Durg, Korba and Bilaspur constituencies will go into polls.

The party has fares well in past three Lok Sabha elections grabbing 10 out of 11 seats. However, in 2014 elections the BJP was in power in the state while currently the assembly is ruled by Congress by winning 68 out of 90 seats in 2018.

Following the public meeting Modi will reach Raipur and thereafter leave for Maharashtra.
