Modi to meet Mamata Sunday in his Bengal visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi to hold a one-on-one meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Sunday evening at Raj Bhavan in Kolkata on his a two-day visit to the state amid protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act by the students of Trinamool Congress and activists of Left Front.

The Left protesters carried placards with slogans like ‘Go Back Modi’ at the Dum Dum area, which is little more than a kilometer from the airport.

One of the activists said, “We will continue our protest unless and until the Act is withdrawn. We don’t wan’t Narendra modi to come to Kolkata as it will vitiate the atmosphere of our state.”

Modi is scheduled to attend the sesquicentenary celebrations of Kolkata Port Trust over the weekend and the two leaders are to share dais during a programme at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in the presence of West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Modi is learned to be spending Saturday evening at Belur Math, headquarters of Ramakrishna Mission, and to depart for Raj Bhawan via Millennium Park by Launch to spend the night as per protocol.

The PM will dedicate to the country refurbished heritage buildings in the state capital. The four iconic buildinhgs are Currency Building, Metcalfe House, Victoria Memorial Hall and Belvedere House.

Culture Ministry has renovated and refurbished the galleries with new exhibitions.

Meanwhile, Left and more organizations have said to be staging protests against the PM.
