Most successful captain and a warrior-Mahi-ODI magician
Mahendra Singh Dhoni added yet another record to his tallies of record by becoming the most successful Indian captain ever in one day Internationals after India thrashed England by 9 wickets in the forth ODI to seal the series. Mahendra Singh Dhoni now has the record of most ODI wins as skipper. The Tuesday’s win was his 91st win. He surpassed Mohammad Azharuddin’s record of 90 ODI victories.
It took Mohammad Azharuddin Nine years and 174 matches to achieve this feat while he did it only in seven years and 162 matches.
Dhoni’s captaincy had come under a debacle after India’s horrible performance in test series in which they lost 1-3 to England but the recent win washed away all the sorrows and Dhoni once again proved his worth.
Dhoni is also on verge of becoming the only skipper to have led India in 100 ODI wins with just 9 more to go. With an average of 53.27 and a career strike rate of 89.31 he has scored 8098 runs and holds numerous other records. He has been consistent all the while. In the recently concluded Test series when the entire team was tumbling one after the other, it was only Mahendra Singh Dhoni who showed some discipline and consistence and proved that he deserved to be the captain of Indian cricket team.
Dhoni also holds the record of most international stumpings (131) ahead of kumar Sangakkara (129). Dhoni achieved this feat in 381 matches while Kumar Sangakkara took 563 matches to achieve this record.
