Mumbai Under Heavy Rain; People Urged To Remain At Home

The crisis was last seen in 2005. After more than a decade the heavy rain has again poured down in the financial capital of India, Mumbai, crippling the city.

The heavy rain is expected for another 24 hours at least, said met office.

Those who are left dead due to rain include three men and two children. It is learned the house collapsed due to heavy rain.

Several areas of the city have been flooded. Local trains were either stopped in some places or canceled. At least ten flights were cancelled too. Traffic was stopped for hours on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link.

Schools and colleges will remain closed for another two days. State chief secretary Sumit Mallick said if the rain persists even tomorrow, the government employees should stay at home.

The King Edward Memorial hospital too was flooded with rain water and reports of water logging were heard from Dadar, Wadala, Parel, Byculla and Matunga. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is on high alert and the same with the Navy.
