Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised Wednesday to bring a fresh “Vikas Ki Ganga” in India while addressing to a rally in Pataliputra parliamentary constituency, Bihar.

Accusing the Congress led opposition the PM said under UPA government the national security issue was downplayed despite several lives lost in terror attacks.

Modi added that terrorists should be beaten like ghosts after being caught.

The constituency will go into poll on May 19, the seventh and last phase. Modi’s comments came short after the claim of Bharatiya Janata Party president Amid Shah that they have crossed the majority mark in sixth phase.

He said, “I am fully confident that the BJP after the fifth and sixth phase of the elections has crossed the majority figure. It is going to cross 300 after the seventh phase.”

Before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections the BJP senior leader claimed UPA confined responses to issuing statements after terror attacks but his government refused taking things lying down.

He added that his government had given a free hand to the armed forces and asserted the terrorists were bumped off.

Modi further added, “Can terrorists be dealt with by burning incense sticks in deference to them? They have to be dealt with like ghosts (bhoot-pret) who are caught by the tuft of hair, beaten up and driven away.”
