NaMo TV content is not advertisement: Delhi poll officer

Bharatiya Janata Party finally admitted Wednesday the NaMo App is run by its IT Cell even though senior leaders of the party including prime minister Narendra Modi urged people through Twitter and other platforms to watch its election-related programmes.

NaMo TV is part of the NaMo App and Delhi poll officer said content shown in it is not advertisement.

According to BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya the NaMo TV is a feature of the app that is run by it and BJP has taken slots on DTH too.

Malviya said,”We have not yet received the circular from the Election Commission. Once we get it, we will look into it, and respond in detail.”

The admission by BJP IT Cell cones after the NaMo TV was found not to qualify as advertisement by the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer’s Media Certification and Monitoring Committee’s response to the Central Election Commission.

According to media reports the MCMC has only certified the NaMo TV logo and not the content shown on it.

It is learned Neeraj Kumar, National Election Committee member of the BJP, has applied for the certification of NaMo TV logo as well as the content to be shown on NaMo TV.
