Nepal has come forward amid India-China tension and several verbal attacks from China over China-Bhutan border dispute in Doka La (Doklam).

Nepal’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara said Friday all countries must resolve matters peacefully.

He added, “There are so many disputes and problems among countries but Nepal always stands by resolution of any tensions through diplomacy and in a peaceful manner.”

Nepal Suggests Diplomatic Route Can Resolve Doklam Dispute

Amid the India-Bhutan-China tri-junction tension the Chinese nation has also equated Kalapani, which is a 35-sqkm area and claimed by both India and Nepal since mid-1996.

Briefing to the media earlier this week the deputy director general of the Boundary and Ocean Affairs of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Wenli, said Indian side has many tri-junctions and same can also be used to enter Kalapani region or even the disputed Kashmir region.

The Nepalese deputy prime minister mentioned discussing the issue in a diplomatic way is the only way forward for India and China.

He further continued that Nepal is monitoring the developments in the region as the country is also feeling the heat of Doklam dispute.
