No Congress leader visited Statue of Unity: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Thursday Congress claims Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is their leader and still no one from the party has visited his statue in Gujarat.

Addressing to the people in a rally in Gujarat he asked, “Don’t you feel proud when the Statue of Unity and Gujarat’s name appear when you search for the world’s tallest statue on Google?”

Modi added that he has not built the statue to belittle former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

Called as the Statue of Unity, the statue was unveiled by Modi last year on October 31. It is 182-metre tall and was built at a cost of Rs 2,389 crore.

Talking on Jammu and Kashmir issue he said terrorism has been contained to just two and a half districts of the state and in recent panchayat elections the voter turnout was 75 percent.

Modi said now people are feeling more secure as there were no bomb blasts in India in past five years.

Blaming Congress for not responding to terrorism he said his government acted after the Uri attack and through a surgical strike he has taught a lesson to Pakistan.

Modi said, “Am I responsible for the present situation in Kashmir? Just because of the policies of Congress, we could not solve the Kashmir issue even after 70 years.”
