NRC will be implemented across India if BJP is voted to power: Amit Shah

Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah said Thursday National Register of Citizens will be implemented across India if the party is voted to power and blamed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for spreading lies about it.

Shah was addressing a rally in Darjeeling district of West Bengal and vowed to be removing every single infiltrator from India while issuing citizenship to Hindu and Buddhist refugees to make them Indian residents.

The National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam turned controversial as many said they have been left out of the genuine citizens lists. BJP touted it as a strong move of his government against the infiltrators.

The part has promised in its manifesto to implement the NRC in a phased manner across India and grant tribal status to the Gorkha communities.

The BJP president said, “The bravery of the Gorkhas, the tea from Darjeeling, their culture and the natural beauty here attracts tourists from all over the world. But Mamata Banerjee has destroyed the valleys.”

Adding further he said if BJP is voted to power, the Article 370, which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir, will be removed from the Constitution.

Darjeeling will go into polls on April 18 and Raju Singh Bisht is the party’s candidate.
