Padmaavati Released Amid Protests, Violence

Earlier, the Multiplex Association of India said the much controversial movie will be not be screened in Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan. The association represents most of the multiplex owners.

Meanwhile, some of those who saw the movie at the special screening yesterday said Bhansali has not distorted history in Padmaavat.

The 190-crore movie earned angry protests in Rajasthan in past few months resulting with non-release in the scheduled time. Groups like the Karni Sena claims the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed movie distorts their history as the 13th-century queen, Padmini, has been disrespected by showing her romantically involved with Alauddin Khilji, the Muslim invader to India.

CBFC has given a U/A certification to Padmaavat. The earlier scheduled release date of the move was on December 1.

Akshay Kumar Padman is releasing tomorrow and both the movie may face competition from each other.
