Padmavati Releasing On Jan 25, To Clash With Padman

Finally Sanjay Leela Bhansli gets confirmed release date for its most controversial movie Padmavati, but with a title change as Padmavat. It will hit the cinema halls on January 25.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) suggested several modifications along with retitle for the movie to find it fit for release. The earlier scheduled date of Padmavati was December 1.

The official statement of Bhansali is yet to come for the January 25 release date.

Meanwhile, sources in Viacom18 Motion Pictures said, “The film is releasing on January 25. There is no clarity when the official statement will be out regarding this.”

January 26 is Friday and to get the collection of long weekend the movie will be released a day before the usual release day in India for any movie. However, Padmavati will clash with Akshay Kumar starrer Padman movie.

Akshay Kumar shrugged down of any competition with the movie as it will be a long weekend and all the movies can come.

Kumar said, “Every film has the right to release whenever they want, and I am happy for them.”

CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi said director and producers of Padmavati were completely in agreement with the proposed modifications.

CBFC had given a U/A certification to the movie on December 28.
