Pakistan Bans Indian Entertainment Content On Radio, TV
Amid increased tensions Pakistan has lately banned all the Indian program on its television stations and local radio channels.
Announcing the ban the state-run Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority said Wednesday violators would be suspended of existing licenses without any issuance of show cause notice.
The authority added decade-long unilateral concession will be canceled from October 21, Friday.
Movies, songs and drama serials had been a regular entertainment element for years in Pakistan and also a good source of revenue for private television stations and radio channels.
Earlier India banned Pakistani actors from working in its film industry.
Just ahead of such announcements troops of both the countries were engaged in intermittent exchanges of fire across the disputed territory on Kashmir border.
Last month militant attacked a military base in Kashmir and India blames it was plotted on Pakistani soil. However, Pakistan has rejected all such accusations.
Meanwhile, India conducted a so-called surgical strike on militants and terror camps on the Pakistani side of Line of Control (LoC) to eliminate terrorists trying to infiltrate into India.
The strike was justified by neighboring countries saying India has the rights to safeguard its borders.
Share your views too whether such surgical strikes would bring an end to terrorist infiltrations in India or would lead to another war between the two nations conjoined by geography and divided by history.
