PoK, Aksai Chin is part of Jammu & Kashmir: Amit Shah

Union home minister Amit Shah said the Aksai Chin as well as the Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) is part of India’s Jammu and Kashmir.

The government revoked Monday some of the provisions of the Article 370 that gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir, proposing a bifurcation of the state into two union territories – Ladakh without legislature and J&K with legislature.

With the move the Bharatiya Janata Party fulfulled an electoral promise to bring J&K under the one constitution of the country.

Shah said in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday there was a long-standing demand for granting Ladakh the status of Union Territory and the Narendra Modi government has fulfilled it.

The home minister added, “Kashmir is an integral part of India, there is no doubt over it. When I talk about Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan occupied Kashmir and Aksai Chin are included in it and can die for it.”

He dismissed the charge of oppositions that the government has violated the rights of the people by introducing the bill and resolution on Kashmir.PoK, Aksai Chin is part of India's Jammu & Kashmir: Amit Shah

Shah added that no one can stop him from doing so in the Parliament.

Snapping back at Leader of Congress party Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary the minister said India’s Parliament cannot be stopped for making law on J&K.

He added, “Does Congress want the UN to resolve Kashmir?”
