Political Funding Cleansing Is Next Move Of Modi: Arun Jaitley

After a milestone achievement of Goods and Services tax (GST) the Narendra Modi government is learned to be cleansing the political funding.

If believed to a statement of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, some major moves will be announced that will be cleaning up the whole process of political funding.

The current system of political funding has been in existence for past more than seventy years and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been insisting to the reform of the process.

The FM had earlier announced that electoral bonds should be used in making donations to political parties.

However, the outgoing Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi said such move of PM Modi would have negative impact about transparency in political funding.

Jaitley said, “Consumers have eventually prevailed. Consumer viewpoint is why should I pay tax twice over.”

He added the GST roll out will improve the Indian tax base as well as the tax-to-GDP ratio.

The demonetization exercise of 2016 added 92 lakh tax prayers.

Jaitley further added some of the manufacturers are objecting the GST because they fear disclosing their true trade volumes.
