Porsche 911 Catches Fire in Texas
For those who love cars, they must have become very familiar with the brand Porsche. This is one of the world’s largest and most popular automotive brands in the world, after all. It is, however, an inevitable fact that the cars manufactured by Porsche are the toys that belong to the very wealthy people in the world only. They often come at a very high price tag. With that being said, it will be a real shame if any Porsche has to suffer from any disasters of sorts. As a matter of fact, if there is even just a single scratch on a Porsche, the owner will have to take out an enormous sum of cash to get the damage repaired. Unfortunately, only recently, a Porsche 911 had to catch fire in Texas, US.
Speaking of the incident, some people believe that it is partially because of the currently hot weather in Texas. According to the latest report, the temperature in Texas has reached thirty eight degrees Celsius, which is pretty hot. With that being said, it makes good sense to say that the heat actually triggered the Porsche in question to burst into dreadful flames.
The incident took place at the junction connecting the Congress and the Riverside. As it turns out, there are some ironic points to find out in relation to this very unfortunate mishap. The spot where the Porsche 911 caught fire was actually kind of close to the Colorado River, where there was supposed to be a lot of water, of course. Yet, what made the incident even more ironic is that it happened near a restaurant selling Thai foods and the restaurant was known by the locals as ‘a touch of fire’. Reports of the incident mentioned that the fire started to spread from the rear of the coupe. For those who may not know, the Porsche 911 has its engine placed in its rear compartment. At the rear, the car has its flat 6-cylinder engine stored. As such, the rear part of the car is completely prone to fire.
Fire trucks had to be called in to get the fire under control. Nevertheless, it was a real shame that the Porsche 911 involved in the fire had suffered from a major damage at the time those fire trucks eventually managed to put out the flames that were burning the car.
The cause of this very unfortunate incident still remains a mystery to be solved up to this point. However, some people are suspecting that the car has some production defects, just like in the case of the GT3 version of the Porsche 911 model. At some earlier points in 2014, Porsche had been recalling its 911 GT3 coupe model. The recall was related to fire risk, as reported on a number of mass media, both online and offline.
Nevertheless, the Porsche 911 that caught fire in Texas was more like a Carrera instead of a GT3 model. Hence, the fire might not have started due to some sorts of production defects. However, there are always probabilities indeed. After all, some time ago, Porsche had also been recalling its Carrera S models, especially the ones with the manufacturing date ranging from October 21, 2011 to January 24, 2012. These Carrera S models are found to have a risk of a disconnected fuel line which may well be caused by the coolant line that happens to be located near the fuel line. According to Porsche’s findings, this issue may as well prevent the car from moving or even starting at all. In addition to that, Porsche admits that it may even expose the car to fire. Either way, it will be very dangerous for the owners of the model.
