Pulwama mastermind killed in overnight encounter

Key Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist who is believed to have masterminded the February 14 Pulwama suicide attack, one of the deadliest in India, that killed 44 CRPF jawans was shot dead in an encounter that went for more than 12 hours on Monday.

In the early morning hours of Monday a joint team of Army’s 55 RR, SOG and CRPF cordoned off an area in Pulwama’s Pinglan to bid a search operation. The move was based on credible inputs about presence of terrorists.

The militants opened gun fire on the forces leading to a gunfight. Four Indian army soldiers including a Major lost their lives in the operation. The martyrs are Major DS Dondial from 55 Rashtirya Rifles, Head Constable Save Ram, Sepoy Ajay Kumar and Sepoy Hari Singh.

Deputy Inspector General of south Kashmir, Amit Kumar, was injured and a civilian too lost life in the encounter.

According to sources the key JeM terrorist Kamran is believed to have plotted the Pulwama terror attack.

Another militant, Hilal Ahmed, a local Kashmiri bomb specialist was killed too in the overnight encounter.

Following Thursday’s attack India has highlighted role of Pakistan in using terrorism as an instrument of state policy.

In a major diplomatic offensive Pakistan has been demanded to take immediate action against the terror outfits operating from its territories to create a free-of-terror atmosphere.

Late last week India announced withdrawal of the Most Favored Nation status for Pakistan and with immediate effect raised customs duty of Pakistan imports by 200 percent.

The weekly Poonch-Rawalakot bus service was suspended too
