Rahul Gandhi to violate restrictions if flies to Srinagar: J&K administration

Political leaders should not visit Srinagar as it would disturb the peace restoration and affect normal life, said Jammu and Kashmir Information and Public Relations Department.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will be flying to the Valley today along with few more leaders from other opposition parties including DMK, Trinamool Congress, Janata Del, CPI and CPM.

Earlier senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad was stopped twice at Jammu airport and forcibly sent back to Delhi.

The J&K administration issued a statement Friday night mentioning visit of political leaders to the valley would be violation of restrictions imposed in several areas in the region.

The statement read, “Political leaders are requested to cooperate and not visit Srinagar as they would be putting other people to inconvenience. They would also be violating restrictions that are still there in many areas. Senior leaders should understand that top priority would be given to maintaining peace, order and preventing loss of human lives.”

BJP-led government stripped Article 370 from the Constitution on August 5 that used to provide special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The Centre bifurcated the state into two union territories too separating Buddhist majority Ladakh the rest of the state.
