Ram Rahim Gets Two 10-Year Jail Sentence In 2 Rape Cases

Gurmeet Ram Rahim will be serving 20 years of jail for two rape cases, which means two 10-year-term consecutively. He has been fined of Rs 15 lakh in each case too. The self-styled godman’s lawyer cited his humanitarian work and sought a lighter sentence. The lawyer added to be appealing in a higher court.

The two women who were being raped by Ram Rahim have meanwhile sought for more punishment and CBI too has asked the court to think over sentencing a longer prison. Both the cases occurred some fifteen years ago.

The Dera Sacha Sauda chief will were prison clothes bearing a number 1997. He will be serving the term at the Rohtak jail.

Currently the situation in the Indian state of Haryana is peaceful unlike Friday when Ram Rahim was convicted. The state Chief Minister ML Khattar said strict action will be taken against those who will try to disturb the peace.

The CBI court judge came to Rohtak prison today and a court room was created there to prevent repeat of Friday’s violence when his supporters in great number set fire to cars. Police deployed tear gas as well as water cannons, but with little impact.

All the roads leading to Rohtak prison was blocked and thousands of paramilitary troops as well as anti-riot police Residents were warned to stay indoors. All the schools and colleges were shut down for precautionary measure.
