Sadhvi Pragya contesting from Bhopal on BJP ticket

Bharatiya Janata Party is fielding Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur from Bhopal seat and she is to combat with Congress heavyweight and former Madhya Pradesh CM Digvijaya Singh.

Sadhvi Pragya is out on bail. She is facing trial in 2008 Malegaon blast case even though NIA court has dropped charges against her under stringent Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA). She said to have already started working on election campaigning.

On 29 September 2008 a bomb blast in Malegaon killed six people and injured 100 others. In connection to it police arrested Sadhvi Pragya the next year.

She joined the party just hours before her name was announced to contest in the high profile constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Sadhvi Pragya was an ABVP activist during her college days and since childhood she was inclined with Hindu right-wing.

Meanwhile, BJP also announced KP Yadav to be fielding from Guna and he will be directly combating with senior Congress leader Jyotraditya Scindia.

Raj Bahadur Singh will be contesting from Vidisha constituency and Ramakant Bhargav from Sagar on BJP ticket.

In 2014 Lok Sabha elections External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj won from Vidisha on BJP ticket. Citing health issues she announced not to fight the polls this year.
