Security stepped up in Mumbai following intelligence input

Security agencies in Mumbai have been warned to stay alert following intelligence report of terror attacks possibility in next three months or more. Railway stations were seen Friday stepped up safety measures and alert was issued.

According to local newspaper security of Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Raigad were increased and police security was stepped up across Maharashtra too apart from Mumbai.

Mumbai is a busy city and its railways are highly crowded. Lakhs of peoples travel daily in local trains. It is learned Railway Board President Vinod Kumar Yadav has ordered senior officers of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) to ensure there are no security lapses.

It has been order to detain suspects and question them amid carrying out search operations on all the trains, but mostly on long-distance trains.

The alert was as below:

“Passengers are being requested to bear with routine checks by bag-scanners and manual checks, if necessary, by the checking squads. People are requested to report to the RGF/GRP/Railway staff on duty about any suspicious bag that they may see lying anywhere on the Railway premises.”

Apart from all these, people are also requested not to create panic as well as not to spread rumors. All are suggested to stay alert, stay patient and cooperate with security personnel to ensure safety.

Sources reveal routine alerts can be heard at railway stations from time to time and security has been stepped up.
