Several detained in Srinagar over protests against Article 370

Tight lid is still being kept hovering over protests in Kashmir and thirty demonstrators were detained by security forces Tuesday night in Srinagar.

Following strip of Article 370 in the Valley public gatherings have been completely banned and hundreds of political leaders as well as separatists have been detained.

The latest detentions were from such part of Srinagar where crowds pelted stones at the deployed paramilitary police.

Speaking on condition of anonymity an officer said stone-pelting in the area was intensifying in past few days and so the detentions were made.

Authorities said the protests were small of not more than a dozen people.

Revoking of Article 370 on August 5 means taking away the special status from Jammu and Kashmir. Now any citizen of India can compete for government jobs and buy property in the Valley.

The move of BJP-led Narendra Modi government was surprising and shocking for everyone and tensions with Pakistan have further been increased.

Pakistan is accusing India of human rights violations in the Valley.

Meanwhile, United States president Donald Trump has talked to the prime ministers of both the countries urging to reduce tensions over Kashmir issue.
